Status Board

In our (very rare) spare time at Allfields, the development arm of the business is allowed to “branch-out” and work on projects that may not be strictly business focused. In our latest escapade, we felt one of the walls in the new office was a touch bland. This called for some serious spending. A trip to Dick Smith, and a 42” LCD later, the wall was no longer empty.

But we didn’t stop there, as there is no point having a sizable screen on the wall if you aren’t going to use it properly. Inspired by Panic’s status board, we decided that our TV would be a great mechanism for displaying our calendars and other important information.

A few hundred lines of PHP and JavaScript down the road, beta 1 was complete. The solution currently displays news, weather, twitter and a selection of our calendars. It is compulsory viewing for all visitors, and has proved to be a hit with the rest of the team.

Warning: technical detail follows!

The hardest part of this project by far was getting PHP to strike up a conversation with Microsoft Exchange. After a day of head-wall connection, the eventual solution involved using cURL to interact with Exchange Web Services.  It was incredibly satisfying to see a Microsoft product spit out appointments into a PHP array.

Knowledge consultant at allfields needed - full time job - Wellington based

Allfields are growing again, we have some exciting projects coming up – if you would like to challenge yourself in a rewarding and fun environment, then read on.

Who are allfields?
What a silly question.  As if you don’t know.  Just in-case there are 1 or 2 people who don’t know who allfields are, we are an awesome Knowledge and Information Consultancy based in Wellington providing a wide range of services for large organisations in NZ and Australia.  Clients love us and we love our clients.  Why – because we are highly respected for our knowledge.  Allfields are the go-to company for the people side of EDRMS Rollouts in New Zealand.

What is a knowledge consultant?
Very good question!  Allfields Knowledge Consultants make our clients look awesome by imparting knowledge through Teaching, running workshops and documenting new systems and new processes.

What makes a good knowledge consultant?
Someone with uber enthusiasm, someone who can speak clearly and confidently to small and large groups.  If we strike the jackpot, the person we want is already working in an industry that knows EDRMS speak.

What would the job involve?
After learning from our guru’s,  the job would involve, delivery of training courses, liaising with clients around their projects, managing rollout events (scheduling, bookings, delivery etc.)

Apply if:
  • You realise the job is in Wellington and can interview sometime in October
  • You have some experience, but are still willing to learn more
  • You love dogs (seriously that’s important).

How to apply
Send to shiree@allfields.co.nz a cover letter, explaining why you think you will be a great addition to the allfields team.  If, and only if, that grabs our attention, we will read your CV. We have no rules, no big red book to follow, if you look awesome, we will interview you.

So, go on, have a think, if this sounds like you… send us something, we would love to hear from you.
